Class Rules

1st December 2011

ISAF have approved the class rule changes voted on by the NCAs in August 2011. These changes are effective from 1st December 2011. A copy of the class rules incorporating these changes can be found on the ISAF website and by clicking on the following links.

31st March 2011 Note from the Technical Committee:

We have been asked for our views on whether particular types of electronic compass are permitted by the class rules.
Rule C.5.1(b)(7) provides:
“Any electronic compass used shall only be capable of correlating data relating to the magnetic north and the boat’ s heading, except that it may also incorporate an electronic timing device.”
The Technical Committee’s view is that a compass which displays a figure calculated by adding or subtracting a fixed figure (which may be changed manually) to represent the tacking angle of the boat to or from the figure for the boat’s heading is permitted under this rule. So, by way of example, in the Technical Committee's view the current versions of the TackTick T060 and T061 compasses are permitted, but the TO70 and T075 are not permitted. The view expressed in this note is not a rule interpretation by ISAF, but they have been asked to confirm that they agree. The Technical Committee intends to propose a rule change to clarify the rule in this regard for the future.
Will Henderson, Chairman Technical Committee, 31st March 2011

Cadet Drawings

The ICCA is in the process of producing lines and drawings for Cadets, which it intends to publish free on the website. The lines are also available in .dxf MaxSurf and 3D1GUS. The current working drawings in PDF format can be seen at the following links:

These are being refined. The crosses ("x") on the drawings are the maxima and minima at the measurement points (4 crosses for each point).
